Story Fragment: Reese Rine
Yippee!!
Fifth volume end! Damn it’s been a ride.
Anyhow, gotta tell you that I’ll be going on another one or two week haitus before the start of volume 6.
So while waiting, Story Fragment: Reese Rine!
*
I’m going to be talking about some of my recent feelings regarding this series proceeding from here onwards.
For one, I’m getting kind of bored of writing Half a Demon Lord’s Journey. I’m not sure if it was a mistake to create an entirely different time line for this series just so I can give you something more to chew on, or that I should’ve just turned the web series into a book.
There’s now a slight fear that I might not actually be able to complete the whole story. Because up till this point, the last two drivers for me are: for you readers, and so that I can earn a living. In the past I had more drivers such as the novelty of a new series and the excitement to share what I thought would blow your mind (blow your mind in the sense that I’d twist the very fabric of what you know as right, wrong, moral and immoral).
The motivation from ‘writing for you guys’ is starting to dissipate, and trying to ‘earn a living’ as a sole purpose makes writing feel like a complete drag. Yet, to stop is scary.
The dilemma of why I think I’m no longer really writing for you guys comes from the fact that the more I write, the more readers drop the series as the story progresses. And, I have no idea if the story is any more interesting. The only thing driving the story is crude conflict, depression and mystery; there’s no longer a clear goal for Sequencee, or anyone. It just feels like filler material until the final ‘arc’.
As for earning a living— hahaha. I took the effort to create an entire OELN. I’m pretty sure it’s the best one out there, especially with the double paged illustration paperback option available. However, as amazing as the OELN is, I’m concerned about whether or not it’s really something you’d want as a reader (should the author care if the entire purpose of the story is to make you question life?). The story is getting a real maddeing twist thanks to the book.
So up till this point, I can only say that I wish to try something else.
But at the same time I’m afraid to. There’s a fear that if I don’t focus on this series, especially with the new launch of the OELN series, I’d lose my hopes on attaining a stable source of income and blah blah blah.
And so, part of this haitus, asides giving me more time to write the OELN and complete V.6’s editing, is to allow me to think about how I should move forward. (And also to hopefully regain that passion for this series). So ye.
See you in the next volume!
