374. LILIATH BOUGAINVILLEA
“Mn.. interrogation time. Were you the one who created the talisman tattoo thingy?” I asked, holding a pen light in my hands.
“No.”
“She’s lying,” Prune announced.
“I’m not!” Iona squirmed in her seat.
“Do you even care about your brother?”
“W-What are you going to do to him?!”
“That’ll depend on how you answer us.”
Javiel and Locket are currently under 24 hour surveillance by Teal, Moirae and the heroes, on shift. Their statuses have been reduced to peasant level, and their skills were also rid of so.. chances of them escaping is pretty close to zero.
Unless a demon lord breaks him out of jail again– which I doubt because Gina-san is keeping that guy, Ruff in check. I almost forgot Gina-san was a person involved in this too. Time sure flies huh..
Now we have Iona here, being interrogated by me, Prune and Jiwon.
Jiwon still wants to kill Javiel.. I mean.. Jeff. Crap, I need to remember that my name is still Javiel Myst at the moment.
“We’ll spare your onii-san if you tell us how to disarm the tattoo.”
“I don’t know! I don’t know!”
“Jiwon.”
“My pleasure.”
“Hikh?!”
“Speak, or die.”
I find pleasure in this for some reason.. I think I’m able to understand Jiwon better now, as a Regressor. You can seriously break if you keep going back in time.
I intend to fix that before we return back home– it’s not good to keep a Unique Skill so dangerous.
Anyways, back to the present.
Iona was sweating buckets, a good amount of bloodlust was being released into the surroundings.
“I really don’t.. don’t know uwaawawawwawaw. Onii-san save me!!”
I pinched my fingers between my brows. This girl is stubborn alright.
“Prune, you’re up.”
She nodded, Jiwon shook his head and returned to sitting, legs folded of course.
“Iona-chan, look at me, please?”
“Uwawawa.. no! No!”
“I understand that you're scared and worried about your brother, but if you don’t cooperate, we won’t be able to save him too you know?”
“You’re lying! There’s no way you’re going to save him!”
“We’re trying to. If you don’t comply, then we’ll definitely have to kill him, is that what you want?”
“You’ll kill him either way!”
“Do you want that?”
“No!! Uwawawawa!!”
“Then do you know what you have to do to prevent that?”
Prune’s interrogation was slightly more successful than that of Jiwon’s. She managed to pull out the fact that.. Iona can ‘try’ to remove the chains from Liliath.
Sheesh.. she created a one way black hole. I fucking want to kill her.. metaphorically.
Ahem, anyways. If push comes to shove, I’ve already procured a good number of points to revive Liliath. Thanks Gaia.
“Do you trust her?” Jiwon asked.
“Dunno, but we have to try something at least. You want to kill Javiel right? Then we have to get Liliath back.”
“Is she still not well?”
“She’s alright, for now..”
“You’re one hell of an enigmatic god.”
“No. I’m just a person, like everyone else,” I sighed.
“It doesn’t matter. Just give me his head once you’re done.”
“Sure. Oh, by the way, Jiwon-san.”
“What?”
“Is it alright if we permanently remove your Regressor Unique Skill from your status? You know.. so that you don’t go insane?”
“No.”
“Why?”
“My life isn’t yours to decide.”
“You’re so stubborn.. whatever. I’ll still replace it with something else. Don’t try dying randomly.”
Jiwon walked away without replying.
He’s probably aware that this was a request by Laura the elf. She might remember her past life in this life, but what about the next life? She didn’t want Jiwon to go through all that alone again.
“Noel.”
“Yes?”
“What should I do about her?”
“Dunno. What do you want to do about her? It’s your choice, right?”
“Hm..”
Shea was also under supervision but.. she’s free to roam as long as she’s wearing that slave collar. And yes.. Prune is the owner of the slave collar, go figure.
It’s a mystery why the Nine Tail even supported Jeff in the first place. She’s like the third wheel in their gang, oddly enough. Now that Shea has a Prune, Jeff is nothing to her anymore.
That’s kinda sad, from my viewpoint at least.
I made my way to the upper floors of the castle. I still find it hard to believe the sheer scale of this place, having not been here for I don’t know how long.
I knocked on the door.
“Come in.”
===
With Javiel– Jeff no longer running the demon territory, one might expect some breakdown in the internal affairs. Which should be the outcome but you know, this is a fantasy world and nothing about it makes sense.
Siesta and Alytia, alongside Aoki Kaito and Takata Sayu have gone to manage the territory. If my memories are correct, Siesta is a schemer? Whatever it is, she should be able to handle the management of a territory.
I just find it odd how His Majesty, Liliath’s father in this world, doesn’t mind offering territory to the princess of another kingdom. Where’s the politics?! None?!
Nevertheless, it’s good news. One less thing to worry about in their isekai world.
Next up on the list would be the effects of the pseudo-war against the world’s long standing enemy, demon lord Javiel.
Now that he’s gone, evil has been vanquish, world peace has be establish~
Not.
There’s still us. The other demon lords.
News will probably spread to the other kingdom regarding how Toren Kingdom will accept demon-kind. In that case, we might face some backlash.
Not sure how that’ll affect Liliath’s Evolution quest which requires that we stop the war between demon lords and the empire but..
As a counter, we can only send the heroes to the various kingdoms to spread awareness. Tell them that demon lords are good people if you treat them like good people. Else we’ll nuke your town bye-bye… just kidding.
With that outta the way.
“She’s sleeping huh..”
Rin nodded to my reply.
Liliath was breathing lightly on her bed. So cute.
Yeah right, I have something I’ve got to tell Rin, don’t I? What’s her full name again?
“Her Majesty Marilyn came earlier this morning to see Liliath.”
“And how was she?”
“She was relieved.”
“That’s good to hear.”
She stared at me. Take this chance to tell her about it?
“Um.. Rin.”
“Yes?”
“I’m sorry.”
“No, no. You did nothing wrong! I-I was the one who failed to protect you..”
She crumpled the hem of dress, gritting her teeth.
We’re misunderstanding each other’s intentions.
To her, it must have only been a week or so.
To me, it’s been years.
So much for 100 times the time difference, how long was my stay in the void anyways? She’s become so unfamiliar–
“Rin, it’s alright.”
I guess consoling her comes first. Telling her the truth can be done later when everyone is free. Even though it’s been an entire day since the end of the war, everyone had been busy till late at night.
Rin cried in my arms, I stroked her back.
Did the situation become that emotional? I suppose so. I did die after all.
“Noel..?”
“Good afternoon Liliath.”
“This is..”
“Your room.”
Liliath sat up and pulled her blanket around her neck, hugging her knees, she looked down at her feet.
“Who am I..” she asked somnolently.
“Liliath.” Rin called out to her, concerned.
“You’ll know soon enough.”
Liliath raised her head to look at me. I grinned.
This plan will probably kill two birds with one stone. That’s what Liliath said at least.
The way to remove the past is by distancing yourself from it.
“But first, we have to get rid of the weird taliman thing stuck on you. We’ve gotten Iona’s cooperation, somewhat, to do a mini surgery of sorts.”
Hopefully she doesn’t take this chance to make things worse.
Liliath nodded slowly.
Tears begin falling.
“There, there.” I patted Liliath’s head.
She did this to me often in the other world when I sulked.
“Noel, what happened to you..”
“Hm?”
Liliath raised her head to look at me.
“You’ve changed.”
Duh.. why wouldn’t I have changed?
===
I woke up to Noel consoling Rin.
He took notice of me and greeted me afternoon. I greet back.
There was a pang in my heart, an empty hole. Seeing him made me itchy.
I rolled myself into a ball, suppressing these feelings.
How did I feel? Through all that had transpired, it was as if a dream.. a nightmare.
One that has ended.
“Who am I..”
I question myself.
I have come to realize that.. I indeed have no idea who I am. One moment I would fall into despair, the next moment rise to destroy and kill. It’s as if I become a different person each time.
I don’t have control over myself.
– Don’t trust me, Noel.
I said that long ago.
I feared myself.
“Liliath..” Rin called out to her, concerned.
“You’ll know soon enough.”
I raised my head to see Noel grinning at me. How unfamiliar.
“But first, we have to get rid of the weird taliman thing stuck on you. We’ve gotten Iona’s cooperation, somewhat, to do a mini surgery of sorts.”
He’s weird.
I don’t remember him in this image.
Yet, it’s comforting.
“There, there.”
I allowed my tears to flow.
“Noel, what happened to you..”
“Hm?”
“You’ve changed.”
Noel smiled softly. Though I feel comforted by his calm demeanor, this was the Noel I knew– something had happened.
“I was thinking of explaining it to everyone once everything has calmed down. Prune and Nine are still busy with their errands.. if you really want to know, I can give you some spoilers.”
The way he talks too.
I shook my head.
“I’ll wait.”
“Alright.” Two strong pats to my head.
===
Evening was when I was ushered into a room with various magic tools. Most of which I have trouble naming.
Sitting opposite to me was this girl named Iona-chan, looking at her made me shiver. It was a futile effort to remove myself from this place.
“How exactly will you go about removing the talisman things?”
I held Noel’s hands as he asked.
“Will you release Onii-san after this?”
“Depends.. I’m not the one who holds control over his freedom. But I do have some authority to decide what happens to him after.”
“Promise..”
“Sure, it’s a promise. You’ll be able to continue staying with him after this.”
Iona-chan nodded.
She pulled an unusual device from the side, it looked like walls arranged into a V-shape. There was a dense amount of mana jittering on the surface.
“Tell her to sit here.”
“Okay. Liliath.”
I obeyed.
I didn’t know what happened next, I felt a chill spread up my entire body, an unusual feeling of something being brought to the surface. The next moment, I found myself being wrapped by rows of talismans.
“Now we just need to remove all the talismans. It’s impossible for a normal person due to the risk of mana radiation, however, you’re a demon lord so you go.”
“I trust you alright?”
“Yes, yes. You too, save my onii-san!”
Noel came to my side, I stiffened. Everytime he plucked one piece from my body, an uncomfortable pain could be felt. However, each time, a slight liberation could be felt.
“Are you alright?”
I nodded.
“Your face is beet red.”
Was it?
“I hope I’m not misunderstanding anything.”
I don’t understand?
Everything came loose, a mess of paper strewn all over the floor.
“How about the rope, it’s pretty stiff, there’s no knot or anything like that.”
“Try this,” Iona-chan rolled over a marine coloured knife.
“Thanks.”
With one swift movement, it came off. My body felt light, all those restraints were finally gone..
Fatigue struck me and I fell forward– he caught me.
“Is this normal?”
“I don’t know! It’s the first time I ever..”
I closed my eyes and sank into his warmth.
375.
I opened my eyes in the darkness.
Pitch black darkness.
I took a step forward, a white ripple spread out.
I paused and looked at the ground.
It was silent.
Until a ripple came from an opposing direction. I turned around.
I saw her.
“My dear, how have you been?”
“Y-You..”
“You have been through a lot haven’t you?”
“D-Don’t come closer.”
Ah.. it’s the other me. It’s going to take me away again.
No, not this time. I won’t allow it, go away!
“I must say, I have been wronged.”
“H-Huh?”
“I hadn’t.. distrubed you, then all this wouldn’t have happen would it?”
“What.. do you mean?”
“You faltered, me. You faltered because you couldn’t face the demon. You weren’t able to make up your mind, you couldn’t forgive him. It was my existence which caused Noel’s death.”
She snapped a black throne into existence and sat on it. Leaning forward and pressing her fist against her chin, she continued.
“It’s the first time I’ve felt such relief from being saved. All this time, revenge was our goal, wasn’t it?”
Was it?
I could only reply honestly.
“Yes..”
“Dear Liliath.”
My chin was tilted up, I stared into her crimson eyes..
“Do you still need me?”
Did I need her?
The thought of having a life built on these feelings of vengefulness. I was disgusted by how this motivation to life existed.
“I’ve become severely aware of how much of a hindrance to your existence I am. A hindrance to your happiness, a hindrance to your life.”
I..
“Darling. I’m very sorry.”
Forgiveness.
Could I forgive myself?
That Noel died.. because of me?
No. Impossible.
How could I forgive myself..
“Liliath, I..”
“Where in the fuucck is this!”
We both turned to the familiar, yet unusual tone of voice.
“Oh hey.. fuck. Why are there two of me?!”
Another.. me?
Moreover, she was wearing Mondai High’s uniform. There were blood stains on the fabric.
“U-Um.. hello?” she said, showing us a causal wave.
“Who are you?” my evil self asked in a serious tone.
“I want to ask the same, who are you? I died, and now I’m stuck in this space. Are you my doppelgangers?” this unknown Liliath looked more mature, the way she acted was childish however.
“Pardon? This isn’t a place to be joking around.”
Bloodlust spread into the surroundings.
“Shit?! Noel!! Help!!”
It dispersed.
“Noel?”
“I-I’m sorry. Let’s clear things up.. that was bloodlust right.. I-I’m Liliath Bougainvillea. Nice to meet you?” she tried to explain.
“Our names are the same, there is no need for introductions. What’s imperative is your identity.”
“My identity? I’m from the modern world, are you the me Noel always talks about? I thought there’s only one? No.. he said he went to different worlds..”
“You jest, interrupting a serious moment in our conversation.”
“Eh.. I’m sorry.”
I don’t understand.
Who is she?
“Can I get out of here?”
“Once we resolve our matter.”
The Liliath nodded and stood there.
“Um.. is it something I should not be seeing or..”
“Liliath,” my other self turned back to me, “Do you still need me?”
“No,” such an answer came out as if it were natural.
I can’t forgive myself for what I’ve done. Causing Noel’s death twice.. I can’t.
“I see.. by your command, me. I shall cease to exist. This is our last meeting, may you find peace in his solace,” Liliath lowered her head, I noticed tears falling, creating very gentle ripples across the ground.
Then she stood there.
She raised her head, a dumbfounded expression.
She then turned to the Liliath who was playing with the ripple effects on the floor.
“T-That can’t be.”
“What’s wrong?” the other Liliath asked.
“Why.. you don’t want me erased?”
“Eh? Erased?” the Liliath then turned to me, “I’m going to be erased too?”
I titled my head.
I’m confused.. so confused.
“Who are you?” I asked.
“I don’t know how to explain anymore,” she laid on the ground, looking at me upside down. “I’m probably the Liliath Noel killed so that I can go to the isekai world. If my theory is right, he said my memories should combine with the other Liliath.”
Confusing..
Noel killed Liliath?
“Where is this space, will we ever get to see Noel again?” she asked
I nodded, the evil me shook hers.
“I’m seeing two very different answers here…”
“I’m sorry, me. I.. am unable to repent for my sins as.. there’s this you who does not wish for my existence,” the evil me said.
I shook my head.
“It doesn’t matter anymore.”
“Liliath..”
“I’m sorry.. I should’ve forgiven you..”
Who I’m I, to hurt myself?
“Drama,” the Liliath in the uniform blurted.
A soft embrace..
“Thank you, me.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Ah. The space is cracking.”
===
I opened my eyes, and rose from the bed.
I rubbed my eyes a few times and looked around.
Oh, to think that I actually made myself into a fantasy world.. though, it’s only my memory, right? How about my soul? I think this is no different than sticking a pendrive into this Liliath’s head with all my data.
I gripped the ‘forget me not’ pendant on my chest.
Huh? Who is..
This.. isn’t me?
Why..
No, calm down Liliath. My memories.. this..
This is another me from another world?
Geh?! N-Noel?!
I’m sleeping with Noel?! No, wait, it’s normal. This Liliath s-sleeps with Noel..
No way.
No fucking way.
I shook Noel’s shoulders.
“Nm?”
“Noel! Wake up! Wake up!” I screamed in a whisper.
“Ugh.. fine, fine,” He got up, my heart skipped a beat.
Is this what it feels like to sleep with your crush.. no, wait he’s already my fiance?! Uwek! This is stupid, stupid!
“How are you feeling LIliath? Did you regain your memories.”
“Hey Noel..”
“Yes?”
“You’re an idiot.”
Indescribable emotions wells up inside of me. Memories of being tortured and abused, the pains, fears and yearning– these were all Liliath’s memories.
It’s.. really traumatic.
My heart feels so tight, it’s like it's going to burst.
I hugged Noel.
“It’s.. so hard.. so this is.. Liliath Toren..” tears couldn't stop spilling.
Noel stroked my back.
I cried, and cried.
For who knows how long until I got the stuffiness out of my chest.
By the time I was done, I was exhausted. I pulled up the system function and checked the time, 3 am in the morning.
“Noel,” still in his embrace, I asked.
“Yes?”
“You aren’t seriously considering a harem are you?” I looked towards this other grey haired girl sleeping on the same bed.
What in the hell.. why did Liliath decide to take in Rin? Right? Why was the memory fuzzy.. anyways, I was the one who took home Rin and now Noel is responsible for her. How dumb could I be.. ugh, I called myself dumb.
This princess is really lacking common sense. No wonder Noel always complains how he never bought the common sense II skill book.
No matter. Now that I’m here, I can make up for her lack.
Though. It does feel really odd, having fused to become this me.
I finally understand what yesterday night’s dream meant.
Liliath and her split personality. Revenge was her motive for living, and this revenge was what caused me to hesitate during the crucial moment, causing Noel’s death.
And I couldn’t forgive myself for that.
I was about to erase that vengeful me from existence when I appeared, being the ignorant girl from the future who doesn’t know jack shit about the isekai world.
Oho, but I do now.
This Liliath is OP AF.
Hehe.
“I’m sorry,” he sighed.
“Well, I’m partly responsible for digging my own grave. We just have to figure out what we should do about her,” I part from Noel– oh damn, he feels so comfortable, I don’t want to leave, fuck, no– and looked into his eyes.
There’s an alluring red glint in his eyes..
“Um, Noel.. you see I..”
“??”
Right.
Before I forget, l need to establish my rights as the first wife.
I sealed his lips.
376.
“Um..”
Liliath placed down her utensils and looked around the dining table.
The members present were.. every major character that played a part in the war, all of Liliath’s siblings, including the first, second and fourth prince which I hadn’t had the chance to meet till now and our group of Irregulars.
Even though there were so many people, the place was like.. absolutely silent with the sounds of utensils.
“Noel, this is.. normal right?” Liliath whispered.
‘I don’t know..’
Liliath stared blankly into the air before replying.
‘It’s too quiet.’
‘I know. Are you already full by chance?’
‘Quite.’
‘Put it into the Inventory.’
‘Thanks for the tip.’
It was only when the desserts came that His Majesty, my other father-in-law began to speak.
“I thank everyone for coming today for this meal together. Having everyone present around this table on this one occasion is nothing short of a miracle, I thank you all for that.”
After greetings, he presented the pressing concerns which can roughly be divided into 3 main topics.
First was the internal conflicts within the nation. Assimilating the demon territory as an annex of Toren Kingdom isn’t an easy endeavor. This discussion was mainly focused on Siesta’s side of things as she was the one managing the place. They came to a compromise that Siesta would govern the region with His Highness Kyoshi.. her fiance which I don’t think she likes, was it?
Political marriages are a thing. I wonder what Siesta will do? She loves the Regressor. And if there’s one thing I remember about this girl, it’s that she’ someone you don’t want to mess with.
The second issue is about the possible external backlash. Now that Toren Kingdom has regained it’s formal glory– having the newly repaired summoning circle– declaring that it will join forces with demons to finally put an end to this nonsensical conflict– there’s a possibility that the empire, and other kingdoms would go against them.
For this, His Majesty turned to the heroes and two semi-friendly demon lords Ruff and Gina. He has passed down a royal decree to send them off on an adventure to change the people’s hearts.
‘Oh, so we’ve destroyed cliché.’
‘Maybe?’
So the heroes adventure will consist of roaming the world. Bringing peace by evangelizing the truth about demon lords. That sounds like a pretty interesting slice-of-life plot to write.
The Regressor and his wives will stay back to support Toren kingdom in case of any civil issues. Now, onto the third issue.
What to do with Jeff?
Whoops, I forgot to change his name back. There, Javiel Myst.
What to do with Javiel? He managed to build a kingdom even before he finished an army, which is in itself, an impossible feat but.. he himself is a one man army so– fantasy logic let’s leave that aside.
“You promised me that I’ll have his head.”
“Yup, but only one.”
“What are you even talking about..” Liliath looked at me with dead eyes.
We’ll be doing Javiel’s execution in private.
I mean.. it wouldn’t make sense to kill a demon lord and say, make peace with the demons, right?
‘How about his sister? You promised, didn’t you?’
Of course, one would have such a question, as Liliath has.
‘Revival widget.’
‘Oh. Fucking cheat.’
With the matters discussed, the breakfast was dismissed.
Execution will be later this evening. So for now..
We have some free time before the evening party.
It was supposed to be held earlier but because Liliath wasn’t well, His Majesty postponed it.
Anyways, that will be for the evening. We still have the day to spend. Liliath and I thought of realigning things so that everyone is on the same page.
“Where do you think we best go?” I asked
“How about we go to that cafe downtown? I remember killing a blue roach there when I was a younger Liliath Toren,” what she said.
Rin blinked.
“Nine, Prune, Shea?” they’re reaction was delayed, a bit.
“I’m good with that. You said you’re going to explain what happened right?” Nine said– male.
Prune merely nodded.
Shea, who hugged Prune’s arm, cheered, “Let’s go!”
“You also have some explaining to do, Nine,” Liliath said.
“I’m sorry, I messed up,” Nine sighed.
The six of us went into the city, Liliath in the lead.
“Um.. Noel,” Rin came beside me.
“Yeah?”
“Did something happen to Liliath?”
I nodded. “I’m sorry, but hear us out later, alright?”
“Alright.” Rin looked at me puzzled. I felt apologetic in my heart.
The cafe was located at a junction. It’s a busy place with people roaming around, making their way to their job sites. Carriages powered by magic engines would drive down the streets, carrying goods or passengers. There was also a mailman collecting letters from the public mailbox to be sent to the post office.
The very picture of the war’s aftermath 3 days later.
How peaceful.
The cafe’s entrance had a chalkboard with today’s special.
We went in, there was the ring of a bell.
“E-Eh.. Y-Your Highness?! “
It seems the attendant at the counter recognized her.
Ordering was a little awkward, but we managed to get our drinks in with a few good slices of cake and some warm bread.
“I should introduce to the world the greatness of chicken pie,” Liliath pumped her fist, disappointed that said food item didn’t exist.
“I’m I hearing things? What did Liliath just say?”
“Noel, is this.. your doing?”
“There’s no domesticable chicken in this world.”
We sat down.
I heaved a sigh and looked at the members.
“Liliath.”
“I can’t read your mind like Liliath, you should know that.”
“Damn it.”
Which is a mysterious phenomenon. While I can assert what Liliath Toren is thinking from one glance, Liliath’s Bougainvilleas eyes practically shoots out gigabytes of information. Too much for my brain to process.
A sound barrier was set up around us.
“Where should we begin?”
“How about we begin with this,” Liliath held up the ‘forget me not’ pendant, “This here contains my memories from my previous world. So I’m now a combination of Liliath from Toren Kingdom and Liliath from the modern world, Gilgamesh.”
Prune, Rin, Shea and Nine tilted their heads.
“They don’t know that I’ve gone to your world, yet.”
“Eh.. seriously?”
After much deliberation, we began our explanation.
Operation let’s call him Jeff. There was this one time when I threw a hypothetical question to Nine of Liliath’s Gilgamesh. What if I was in this sort of world, with these sorts of rules, how should I get out or resolve this situation?
The two of us came up with a number of scenarios and solutions.
And by some stroke of luck, one of them, operation let’s call him Jeff, turned out to be applicable.
“Oh, so that’s why..” Nine had an expression that a light bulb had just exploded in his mind.
So yep. We met your other selves.
“Which means Liliath change again?” Prune asked.
“I wouldn’t say I changed.. but I will have to say that the Liliath you knew before the one you’re speaking with has an issue with split personality,” Liliath stirred her chocolate drink.
Correction: Coco.
“O-Oh..”
“So you and Noel were in reversed positions,” Nine said.
“That.. I guess? Now that I have Liliath’s memories, that does seem to be the case.”
“So it’s been.. about 4 months from when you died to your reincarnation?”
“About a few years, or even decades, to be more accurate. I got stuck in the void for who knows how long. I could’ve just vanished if not for meeting with an unknown entity.”
“Unknown entity?”
“You never told me that?” Liliath looked at me quizically.
“Didn’t I tell you about it a long time ago? Ah, I’ll just explain it again. Apparently, the guy said.. I was his brother-in-law or something. Which is just, bizarre.”
So bizarre in fact, I could still remember after so long has passed. Heck, I don’t even remember my own age.
“I can’t see the connection,” Liliath replied.
“Me neither. Anyways, Nine, your explanation please. What exactly happened while I was gone?” it was their turn to give us an explanation.
So in short, Nine actually got possessed. Though, the skills helped him keep his consciousness.
It’s all because of the special quest’s guidance. Both ‘being possessed’, and ‘killing Noel’ were Nine’s special quest the prior two weeks.
I guess it’s understandable. There are times when the special quests require you to do nonsensical things for things to progress. Like– telling me to kill Liliath, as an example.
“Feed me nyan.”
“Don’t talk when you chew.”
While we were talking about this, Prune and Shea were flirting(?). I hope that’s not on purpose.
Anyways..
Now to the big issue.
I heaved a deep sigh first. Looking at Liliath, I showed a nod.
“Rin,” she called.
Rin tilted her head.
“As you know.. now that I have memories of someone from the modern world..” Liliath looked like she was eating a sour bug. “I.. I can’t let you have Noel. I’m sorry.” Liliath bowed.
Rin blinked a few times.
Then tears started to flow.
Liliath hugged Rin.
“I’m very sorry!”
“Noel, you aren’t serious, right?” Nine asked.
“I mean.. I had many serious conversations about how to go about this with Liliath. In the end, we came to this decision.. sort ofs.”
If I had to share Liliath with a boy, how would I feel? Pretty disgusted, I guess? That was the analogy Liliath gave me.
“B-But.. well, because I also have memories of the Liliath who doesn’t mind Noel having multiple wives.. maybe it’s not so bad..” Liliath said, clattering.
“Oi, Liliath..” you sure you’re not saying that out of guilt?
“Noel, how long do demon lords live again?”
“A few centuries at least.”
“Then it would be boring with one wife.. right?”
I pressed my hands to my face.
All the worrying about Rin’s feelings back in the other world was for naught huh? I’ve even prepared my heart to cut off ties with Rin. Damn fantasy and all its craziness.
“U-Uh.. you don’t have to do it for me Liliath.. I-I understand..”
“I don’t know anymore.. it’s so-so confusing. I want you yet I’m jealous… of you being with Noel. Why in the fuck can the girls of this world accept harem so easily, someone explain!!”
“L-Liliath?!”
She went limp on Rin’s shoulders.
