[47] OTHERWORLD CHURCH

“We’re going to do your medical checkup tomorrow so—”

Was what I had been told by Noel. When I asked Novelle-sama about it, she looked frightened, declaring that ‘needles are scary’. I wonder what she meant— could it be an urchin-like beast? If so, I will certainly have to prepare myself.

However— such an expectation was shattered by the reality of it as I was brought to a large building that held a similar semblance to a church.

Coming to this world, there were many things I still have yet to understand. There is an absence of mana in the air— stifling, in a sense. Mana recovery is suppressed as I, a demon lord possess the ability to absorb mana directly from the surrounding. I had initially thought it would be dangerous, however, it seemed that the people of this world were incredibly weak. I have yet to meet a single individual with a high combat prowess capable of rivalling myself. Thus I deemed that it was an unnecessary worry.

Though however slow mana regeneration may be, I am confident that my current mana pool has the capacity to wipe out an entire kingdom without the need for recovery.

Though, one question remains. Why do people of this world have TALENTS? From records I’ve read in the past, heroes were said to come from a world absent of abilities. Why was it that people of this world were capable of activating skills? I could not comprehend. Alas, I do have a theory— which that, this could perhaps not be the hero’s world, though, strikingly similar to the descriptions written in the archives.

“I remember your mom telling me that Liliath got scared by the glass door,” Dylan-sama was conversing with Noel.

“Yeah..”

I have no doubts that Novelle-sama’s personality was inherited from her father. Noel looked at me with a wry smile, I averted my gaze.

After walking a little in what seemed to be a geometrical underground structure, we arrived at the sliding glass door. And it was from there we entered the so-called hospital.

The most noticeable point wasn’t just the design of the place, but the temperature. The coldness was a stark difference from the immense heat outside. I’ve come to realize that many buildings are built with ‘air conditioners’.

It was crowded, though not hard to manoeuvre. I could feel their intermittent stares on myself.

That’s right.. as an otherworlder, my hair stood out.

Perhaps the garment I wore contributed to the attention? For this occasion, I picked out this black dress for official purposes with an embroidered coat, a ‘cardigan’.

Though it may be slightly late to mention this, the pair of black shoes fit me well, it could even be said as superiorly comfortable— many times better than the footwear I knew of.

I saw numerous posters that I initially thought were bounties— I still remember the shock I felt when seeing the bounty on my own self..

These posters instead, contained comprehensive information regarding certain diseases and methods to prevent them. Things like avoiding sick people and being ‘vaccinated’. There were many things I did not know, it was immensely complex.

I was in awe of the floor, it was shinny beyond measure. I was able to see my own reflection off the surface. I felt as if I was in a goddess’ domain, however, there was the presence of death.. Though it was light compared to my own world, this would be the first time I've felt such this since coming to this world.

Pandemics do happen back in my world— a common occurrence whenever new heroes would arrive— the reason for such is unknown. But the diseases brought about due to the repercussions of the hero summoning were easily dealt with under the supervision of the church. Unlike curses which could only be treated by a high priest, the disease brought upon by the summoning could be easily cured with the most basic of healing spells.

Many people went about their errands, it was a calm, unrushed atmosphere. Though, the slight death put me in unease, tension. I passed by a number of individuals in wheeled chairs, others with an odd fluid bag connected to their arm, some with anomalies wrapped in bandages. Everything about this church was seemingly novel. Was this how a society without magic treated the sick? I felt sympathy towards them as obtaining treatment in this church wasn’t ‘perfect’ without healing magic.

I could treat them with my magic however.. I understood that if I did such a thing, it would cause an issue with the current system used by the people in the world. I don't plan on starting a revolution with myself positioned in the centre of it all.

We waited for someone— It was supposed to be a person with the rank of ‘doctor’. A rather odd title.

“Liliath, can you talk a bit about the world you came from?” Dylan-sama asked.

I froze at his sudden question.

“Sorry, I don't mean to dig into your past, I just want to know what kind of world you came from. Are there like— demi-humans? Elves? Dragons? Those kinds of things. Oh, and kingdom histories of legends and what-nots.”

“I understand.”

I spoke what I knew, answering the questions that Dylan-sama threw at me that were somewhat relatable. It was odd, how Dylan-sama knew so much about my world when I barely knew anything about this world.

The kind of world the heroes came from— or somewhere similar— perplexing.

“Father, the doctor is here, she’s calling us,” Noel interjected, bringing Dylan-sama out of our conversation.

Fuhh~

The ‘doctor’ was a short female wearing a white coat that stretched to her ankle. It looked nothing like the priest clothes I knew. And between her eyes were the so-called ‘glasses’. This would be the first time being up close to someone wearing this accessory that was said to help improve vision. I’ve seen people wear it back at the demi-human, Prune’s restaurant, but at a distance.

“So this is your summon?” the ‘doctor’ said with a stunned expression, confirming whatever was on the file to my face.

“Yeah..”

“Hahahaha, what an exotic TALENT. Now then, Liliath, I’m Trisha, and I’m the doctor assigned with guiding you through your medical check-up today. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, okay?”

I nodded at her kind words.

Noel and Dylan-sama accompanied me to different designated rooms for different tests. Though, they would separate from me when I was to take the ‘test’.

The first one was called a blood test? It involves the intrusion of a weird needle into the skin, like a leech, it would sap up the blood from my body. I suppose this was what Novelle-sama warned me about?

“Trisha-sama, do these so-called ‘needles’ possess a side effect?”

“T-The blood test requires your blood, so I'll be extracting a little bit of it with the needle. There’s no need to be scared alright, it’ll prick just a little and we’ll be over with it. ” Trisha spoke as she donned elastic gloves, it looked like they were made from hardened slime, but I’m inclined to think that it’s that super convenient material called ‘plastic’.

“Un,” I nodded. such was the truth. If this process merely involved taking a little bit of blood then I suppose there was nothing to fret. Why was Novelle-sama so wary over it? I should have asked Noel about this earlier.

“Put your arms here and relax,” Trisha brought my outstretched arm to sit on the arm of the chair. There, after wrapping my upper arm with a belt, she applied an ointment that made my skin feel cold. “If you’re scared you can look away.”
“Not particularly.”

With half-closed eyes, I watched as the needle was inserted into my arm, blood being drawn up into the tube— there wasn’t any particular significance that could explain why Novelle-sama thought of it as a threat.

After the ‘trigger’ of the needle was pulled to the very edge, Trisha pulled it away from my skin. quickly switching it out for a soft white ball.

“Press onto this,” she told me.

I stared in puzzlement. Why was it necessary to put a fluffy object on the wound? Was this what Novelle-sama was afraid of? Could this soft cotton-like ball be the source of her fear? No, perhaps it was like a bandage— if that were the case.

“It’s alright Trisha-sama, the bandage is unnecessary as the wound should be closed already.”

“Huh?”

I took away the white bandage piece and showed her the part that had been healed. As a demon lord, I would be fine even if I were to be inflicted with a fatal wound, it would recover in a blink of an eye so long as the philosopher stone remained intact within me.

Trisha blinked twice and nodded, injecting my blood into another tube. She wrote something on it before ushering me out of the room.

She had some other things she had to tend to. I was asked to wait outside until she completed.

“So.. did you get scared? Did it hurt?” Dylan-sama showed a smirk as he spoke, legs crossed, sitting on the cushioned chair. I was rather irritated by his attitude so I think I would like to retort.

“It’s nothing compared to the time I had my heart ripped out,” I smiled.

Dylan-sama looked at me dumbly for a moment before visibly trembling.

[48]

“So Liliath has become infected too huh?” Noel spoke in a faraway voice—

“Infected?”
“Nope, but you’re eventually going to have an all-out word war with my father if this continues on.”

“Word war?”

“War of retorts.”

War of retorts.. so wars do still exist in the world, just a different variant…

“You had your heart ripped out? How are you still alive?!” Dylan spoke in a voice not too loud to avoid the others from hearing, he, however, was clearly on the verge of shouting.

“You should not be easily swayed by my lies,” I laughed.

A truth within a lie, the incident where my heart was ripped out— it didn’t happen, but I’ve experienced something similar. I nearly lost my life.. one of the worst pains I've felt to date.. I wonder why.. Why did I recall it?

“For a second there I thought you were a demon lord,” Dylan-sama laughed.

I sent him a bitter smile. Dylan-sama knows too much..

Noel sent a questioning gaze.

Right.. I have yet to discuss the matter regarding my identity as a demon lord.

Odd. It seems Noel and I could understand each other at a tacit level with but a simple glance.

Thinking such, Trisha came out of the room, and called out.

“Let’s go,” Dylan-sama seemed to have recovered from the shock.

“Hey, um, Liliath. You haven’t told my sister or my mom about it yet, right?” Noel came to me and whispered.

Gazing down at my two feet, I shook my head. Not yet.

With Trisha leading, we went onwards to the next location.

“You’re not human are you?” Trisha asked.

I paused.

“That was a joke,” Trisha followed up. I heaved a sigh.. “I saw from the notes that you’re a human from another world, it wouldn’t be weird if you’re not a ‘normal’ human.. so I thought to ask,” she mulled.

“Trisha-sama, what kind of TALENT do you possess?” I changed the conversation, hoping that the direction of the conversation would go elsewhere.

“Me? I wouldn’t say it’s a good TALENT.. it’s something like being able to control my body a little bit better than normal people.”

I didn’t understand.

“Take for example this,” she balanced the small file she had on her pinky as we continued walking— the file was being balanced at one corner, vertically.

“That’s quite incredible.”

“It makes some things easier sometimes. Like during wound repair or taking blood.”

I nodded to reaffirm her words. Just as Noel described, not all TALENTS were the same.

We turned past a corner and the sound of a siren could be heard echoing softly.

“In the hospital, it’s important that there are those who can heal wounds, lighten objects with a touch, and a TALENT that allows the suppression of another individual’s TALENT,” Trisha explained.

Suppression of TALENT? Were there such things as TALENTS that brought about death?
“There are some people who lose control of their TALENTS at times, so it’s a requirement in all major healthcare facilities. Though, most of the time, it’s usually because the patient goes wild due to mental issues. It can cause injury to the staff here if not properly taken care of.”

I nodded somewhat understanding the plight of those who had to tend to these kinds of people.

After the blood test was a urine test? I was given a small bottle and was told to fill it with my bodily fluid. This.. wasn’t it dirty? Why would this be a requirement?

I didn’t question the purpose since I doubt that I would understand the complexities behind anything that works in this world. And since Noel was showing me an expression as if this was a normal outcome and the annoying Dylan-sama who directed me a thumbs up, I judged this test absent of any form of danger.

Having to do it in the bathroom, though embarrassing, I learnt that water magic was all the more useful in this world. I couldn’t imagine how other women would go about filling the bottle without the aid of magic..

After that was brought to a different room for an ‘X-ray’ test? I was told to lie down on a machine— it apparently did something to me as I could feel an extremely faint shock run through my body, though it would usually go unnoticed.

“To check for your bones,” was the explanation I received when asked about the purpose of the test. And there I thought they were going to pull my bone away one by one to determine the health of my skeleton.. why was it necessary to determine the health of my skeleton?

There were a few other odd tests such as hammering my knee to see a reaction of my leg, which was a surprise because I never thought it was possible. Such was an automatic response of my body I suppose?

We were told to return after an hour. Trisha would compile the reports and tests before giving me a final assessment— hopefully, I didn't fail, or should I hope to fail? The tests were odd..

The churches in my world, from what I heard, would conduct examinations to find and recruit potential healers. Was this a similar thing?

“Noel, what are the medical tests for? I don't intend to become a priest?” I asked in worry. It was true, I don't intend to work as a ‘doctor’ just yet.

“What?” Noel turned to me with an incredulous expression.

Did I say something wrong?

“What did you just say? A priest? What? Why a priest?”

“Are these tests not supposed to determine a potential healer candidate?”

Noel opened his mouth, waiting to speak but no words could be formed… had I said something wrong? Again?

“Liliath, could it be that you’re thinking this hospital is a church?” Dylan-sama spoke up.

“Is it not?” I replied.

Was this not an extension of a church?

A dumb smile surfaced on Dylan-sama’s face, he looked as if he was seeing a slime in the meadows.. I’m not..

“Dylan? Noel?” I called out.

“Let’s go, you must be hungry since you haven’t eaten breakfast.. yeah, father, let’s go have lunch.”

“Oh, yeah, g-good idea, come on Liliath.”

I tilted my head at their sympathetic smile..

I wonder why..

Though, I was slightly hungry. It was still a mystery why it was important not to eat food before undergoing the medical check-up. Though, I was glad to have finally eaten something after a long morning.

We were at a place inside the building that served food for visitors.

I opted for tea and found myself taking interest in a chicken pie.

Noel went with spaghetti while Dylan-sama ate a ‘burger’.

“Liliath, just so you know.. this is a hospital. Unlike where you came from, a church and hospital are two separate things in our world,” Noel explained.

I nodded to his words.

“Simply speaking, the healing services of a church were separated into another association called a hospital?”

“Father.. help,” Noel pleaded in a desperate voice?

I feel apologetic because of my lack of common sense..

“There’s no magic in this world right?” Dylan spoke while attending to his meal— wasn’t that impolite? “The church can’t heal people, its purpose is to act mainly as a congregation site for believers. The hospital is where injured or sick people are brought to get treatment, of course, since we don't have magic here, treating a patient is a difficult thing, and that is why there is a hospital. I’m not sure if my explanation got you anywhere though.. it’s just somehow ‘like that’ because of the difference in world history and the absence of magic.”

“Then treatment is done through science?”

“Something like that,” Dylan-sama said and then took another bite of his burger.

I sought after Noel and he gave me a wryly smile.

Our lunch ended in peace, the chicken pie tasted amazing— which reminded me. There was a quest in regards to my favourite food. I think this chicken pie would be a candidate, I should notify Noel. That way the quest would be deemed complete.

“Noel.”

“Yes?”

“I have a feeling chicken pie can be considered my favourite food.”

“...”

Noel’s silence pervaded the surroundings, a weird feeling swept over me.

“D-did I do something wrong?”

Noel brought his hand up to his face, muttering the word ’why’ in repetition under his breath.

“What happened?” Dylan asked, noticing the change around Noel’s air.

“I deleted it..”

“Deleted it?”

“That quest.. just when I thought it was impossible..”

Huh?

[49]

W-what does this mean?

“I’m sorry.. I thought the quest was impossible.. so..”

Seeing the anguish on his face and understanding what Noel meant, I decided that it wasn’t a big deal. Though I wish he would’ve consulted me about it before doing so..

“It’s alright, how about we focus on the other quests instead?”

“Y-yeah..”

“What.. you actually got rid of that one? It was worth 200 points though?”

Both Noel and I glared at Dylan-sama. We knew what he referred to. At least Noel had the tact to remove that task for the sake in which I never set my eyes on those words ever again.

“Pfft.. you two are one of a kind.”

“Great.. “ Noel muttered before returning his gaze to his phone.

One of a kind..

Noel showed me the quests, I memorized the tasks to do..

The only one I could possibly do would be to lean on Noel’s shoulder— though I thought it was embarrassing so I would refrain from that for now.. but I'll seek for when the chance comes.

Also, pertaining to the special quests, it seemed that there would only be a new task once the week ends.

After lunch, we were to visit Trisha in her office.

“Welcome back,” she spoke with a smile. “Do you mind taking a seat over there, Liliath, please take a seat here.”

I sat down on the cushion chair beside Trisha’s desk which had stacks of paper and a laptop-like screen device arranged on top.

Trisha took out a small hand-held machine that emitted light from the triangular tip.

“Alright, please open your mouth.”

She examined my mouth, ears, nose and eyes. Deeming that there were no problems, she then had me read letters on a poster a distance away.

“Everything is good, but there’s something of concern for your X-ray..”

Trisha pulled out a black sheet from a large envelope— the picture of bones, were they mine?

“I don't think there’s really a hole here, do you have any ideas what this may be?” Trisha pointed to the left chest cavity of the skeleton— my skeleton. There was a vast black region, and in the middle was a small white dot. It looked as if a hole had been drilled directly through my chest.

I pressed on my own chest to find no anomaly, my bones were still there. Then why was there a gaping hole?

“If that’s the case then we would need to do further tests,” Trisha spoke.

So did that mean I failed? I felt relieved at her words though.

“Doctor, wait, lemme to speak to Liliath for a bit,” Noel stood up from his seat all of a sudden.

“Do you have an idea what this is?” Trisha asked.

“Kinda..” Noel said in an aversive manner, then whispered into my ear, “It’s the Philosopher's Stone.”

AH?!

That’s correct.. the philosopher’s stone is located right in my heart which meant that..

What should I do? I’ve been found out?!

“Um. Maybe it’s best if you the the doctor the truth? ” Noel recommended, showing me a wary look.

Noel did tell me that demon lords are a welcomed existence in this world..

“A Philosopher’s Stone?”

“Uh.. Liliath.. you’re turn..”

Looked like Trisha catch the contents of what Noel had whispered… What should I do? WHAT SHOULD I DO?

“It’s confidential information, I won't share it elsewhere. I just need to know the reason just in case this is something serious,” Trisha spoke with a smile.

I glanced at Noel again, he gave me a nod.

So there was no way to hide my identity after all.. It would be found out eventually.. but if Noel says it’s fine then..

I allowed my horns to manifest, raising my head to look at Trisha who held a look of bewilderment.

“I’m a demon.. that’s why there is such an object therelain within my heart..”

“Sorry, but I'll follow up a bit. I think the Philosopher's Stone has some sort of electromagnetic field that messed up the X-ray,” Noel spoke to supply my meek explanation.

“A demon.. incredible. You’ve got yourself an incredible summon.. anyways, I would need to check on this, so could I ask you two to wait outside for a moment?”

“Uh yeah sure..”

“So you’re saying Liliath was a Demon Lord all along?!”

“Yeah, yeah..”

It was exposed to Dylan-sama, and it seemed to be an amazing discovery, his eyes were shining in a scary light.. similar to the time he saw that beastkin.

“Noel..”

“It’s alright Liliath, I told you before, there isn't any prejudice against demons in this world.. plus, you’re probably the first ever demon to ever come to this world.”

I glanced at Trisha with a composed expression and then back at Noel.

Was it truly alright? Why did Trisha need them to leave?

“Can’t they stay?” I asked.

“If you don't mind letting them see your breast then yes, they can stay.”

See my breasts?

“Sorry Liliath, we’re getting out. The doctor isn't going to harm you alright?” Dylan-sama said.

Trisha nodded at Noel’s words.

“It’s alright Liliath,” I didn't know when it happened but Noel caressed the top of my head. “I can count on you, right doctor?”

“Of course.”

“You’ll be alright,” Noel’s hand left me and he exited, dragging Dylan-sama along with him.

Was this alright?

“I’ll be feeling your chest for a bit, so..” Trisha took off from her seat and came to my side.

I closed my eyes in fright.

What was she going to do?

No, calm down. I feel no hostility from her, her aura is weak and if I ever feel threatened, I could always kill her. There is nothing to fear.

I took in a deep breath and composed myself.

 “I’m ready.”

“Alright then.”

[50]

She moved her hands and— that was when I felt a touch— a squeeze.

I inadvertently blushed.

“So the bones are intact, well, that’s all I wanted to know.” Trisha then sat back down on her seat.

That was it? All that fear ended with Trisha fondling my under-breast slightly?

“Those horns are real right?”

“Y-yes.”

“May I touch them?”

“By all means.”

She reached out her hands and brushed her fingers across the tip of the pulsing red-black horn. A shiver was sent down my spine. It was an odd sensation.

“Interesting. Thank you,” she then went back to recording notes on a paper.

So indifferent...

“Now I'll give you a vaccine injection, you know what a vaccine is right?” After a while, Trisha spoke again.

“Something to ward off disease?”

“Something like that. It’s to stimulate your body to produce antibodies.”

“Antibodies?”

Anti-bodies. Live-deads? Was this some sort of curse?!

“What you need to know is that these antibodies are there to protect you from diseases. Can you take off your cardigan?”

“Alright..”

Trisha came back with a needle filled with some liquid in her hand.

“This is a vaccine, I'll be injecting this into your shoulder.”

Though it was harmless, the fear of not knowing anything that was being done to my very being, frightened me. There was a sting, but the light pain disappeared before I knew it.

“And it just recovers like that huh? That’s amazing, if normal people had regenerative abilities like you then many things would’ve been easier.”

“Is that so?”

“Take these tablets once a day, also, these ones are for when you have a fever. I don’t think you have hookworms in your intestine but it’s just a precautionary measure.”

Looking at the white round cylinders inside a metal sheet with a star imprinted in it, I shivered. Hookworms in my intestine?! There was a possibility of something living inside my body?!

“Alright, with this we’re done, and here, be sure to come back in a week’s time to get your second injection,” she smiled.

I forced a smile in response.

I learnt today that a hospital is a scary place.

===

“I’m sorry you had to reveal your secret.”

I shook my head, “It was going to happen eventually,”

While waiting for Dylan-sama who was in a queue to make a payment, Noel and I sat on a bench conversing with each other.

It was inevitable. Though I learnt that it was alright for people to learn of the fact that I am a demon lord— candidate. Though, Noel did warn me not to speak too much about it. I assume my healthy status was both a good and bad thing.

“Noel.. do you have hookworms?”

“Hookworms? I don’t think so, oh, so you got that medicine?”

“How do these work?”

“You swallow it with water.”

“Is that so?”

“Trust me.. you don't want to chew on that..” Noel showed me a look of disgust. Could it be that it tasted bad? It could be just like the high grade mana potion I tried in the past. It had a pitiful taste, since there were no other flavor components, it tasted so bland.

“You have a weird colour.”

“Hm?”

Noel and I turned to the person who said that, and standing there wearing pale-green clothing was a girl with short hair– it could be said that her hair had been cut shorter just recently. She was certainly older than me.

“I’m Saria, nice to meet you two,” she spoke with a smile.

“Ah, yeah, uh, nice to meet you, Saria..” Noel said, pertuberted.

“I’m Liliath, a pleasure to meet you.”

“Liliath, that’s a nice name,” she giggled.

“Excuse me, you are here for?” Noel asked.

“Uh.. I think I'll start with my TALENT, er.. I can see people’s colours and.. it’s the first time I'm seeing black, a very deep black. I found it interesting so I just wanted to ask. Liliath right? You two have a peculiar colour.”

“And so?”

“No, nothing, um.. I just wanted to make friends,” she responded in a flustered tone.

Something felt off about her, though she may look joyful and frolic, I knew that she was hiding something.

“Could you be stricken with a disease?” asking that, I noticed an obvious response from her shocked expression

She looked down on the ground before murmuring, “Stage 4 lung cancer.”

Noel was baffled by her words while I tilted my head. I had no idea what that was..

“Hey Liliath, um..” Noel looked as if he was to swallow a bug. From his gaze, I could tell she wants me to..

“Is stage 4 lung cancer something serious?”

“Hah? You dont know what cancer is?” Saria’s astound voice rang.

“That’s how Liliath is…”

“Noel.. could you perhaps want me to help her?”

Noel pulled closer and whispered his doubts to me.

“But the problem is what comes after that isn’t it.. it would cause a problem if someone were to find out that she had been cured all of a sudden by your magic...”

“Um.. thank you for your time, um, I’ll get going, sorry for disturbing you,” she said with a smile.

I could understand what Noel meant, but having contemplated the matter, I held onto her hand before she could leave. Saving one life wouldn’t do any harm would it now?

“Eh?”

“Don’t tell anyone about this alright? That’s the price for your life.”

Deploying a barrier that distorted the surrounding from seeing us, I invoked a saint-class healing magic on her. Her body illuminated in a soft blue-green light, her eyes open wide, while her legs trembled.

At the moment everything was complete, she fell flat on the floor, looking at me as if I were a grim reaper? What was that look for?

“..Wha.. what did you..” she shivered.

“Remember what price you have to pay,” I smiled, she trembled at my words.

Letting out a weak laugh, she stood up with unsteady legs and in a quivered voice, “Y-Yes,” she spoke before scampering away as if a fleeing rat.

Seeing her off up the stairs disappearing at the next turn, I felt elated. I managed to help someone..

“Hey Liliath..”

“I did what I thought was right.. I understand the risks Noel..”

“No.. not that I mean..”

“It was selfish of me to respond so.. I’m sorry,” I lowered my head. If any trouble were to befall on me, Noel would be subjected to it likewise…

“Liliath.. I mean.. you were really scary.. look, I’ve even got goosebumps all over me,” his expression was not one of troubledness but instead, one of fear?

“Really?”

“Yeah…”

Scary? Was I scary? Speaking of which, she never mentioned what colour Noel was..

“What colour do you think you would be Noel?”

“Uh.. you’re switching topics huh? I’m not buying into that— seriously.. what you said just now was really scary..”

Noel diverting the conversation back in its initial course I wondered if it was due to the effects of being a demon lord.

“Did I do something wrong?”

“I’m sorry it’s like the hundredth time you’ve said that but.. yes and no..”

“That’s indecisive,” I pouted.

I don't understand what I did wrong though? I saved a girl’s life, didn't I?

“Uh yeah. There’s no black and white.. only grey.. just.. pay attention on how to phrase your words..”

I did something wrong.. but in everything that happened, no one would speak out the blatant truth.

“But.. also thank you,” Noel said.

I nodded.

“I wonder if it’s just me but for some reason, I feel like we can read each other’s minds.”

I also feel the same way— thought if that really were the case, I wish you understood how troubled I am with the lack of knowledge regarding the culture of this world.

“I’m done, let’s go.. did something happen?” Dylan-sama returned at this time.

Sending him a smile shook my head in denial.

“Not really, well.. let’s go,” Noel supplemented a lie.

After this.. I thought I needed to properly explain my past as a demon lord..

I felt a little fuzzy when leaving the church— hospital.
